Tash Parker

TASH PARKER is Wally's long term girlfriend and is a talented musician in her own right. She defines herself as “Kimberley Kid moved to the big smoke to try and make it in the big bad world of music”.

She was born in Kununurra, in the North East Kimberley area of Western Australia, although she moved to Melbourne in 2007 to foster her music career. As you can tell from her
answers, she’s a sweet and witty dental nurse, singer and guitar player who loves music in many senses. As she puts it, she’s “a firm believer in the necessity of a beautiful melody to carry a message to an audience”, which she does in the lyrics of her debut album, Waking Up.

Besides inspiring the song
“Not Unprepared”, Wally wrote on his blog that he sang on some songs, played drums and percussion and produced a couple of songs on it. Her soft voice is the distinctive signature to an album that could be defined as delicate and mesmerizing as well as avant-garde at some points despite the illusive simplicity and naturality of her melodies, as the arrangements in them are certainly rich, the cherry that tops the cake, thanks to Wally’s and J. Walker’s contributions as producers (source).

Tash helped Wally get out of his creativity crisis and depressive state. In the words of Wally, “I feel very much that she led me out of a lot of depression through her grace.” Theirs was a love at first sight while Wally was on tour in Kununurra but it wouldn’t be fulfilled until a couple of years later, when Tash decided to move to Melbourne. Wally thanked her for how blessed she makes him feel by writing “Save Me” (“You gave me love / When I could not love myself”). Needless to say they make a wonderful couple who enjoy life doing the simplest things, such as “going for a walk or riding a bike or reading together, going to see a movie together or speaking French”, just like everyone else.
