Wally has surrounded himself with some very talented individuals and his inspirations and favourite artists cover a huge spectrum. Here are a few of them and the links you will need to find out more about them.
TIM SHIEL Previously known as "Faux Pas" and "Time Shield". Plays a big part in the live shows and keeps us fans amused with his Twitter "Gotye Fan Bait". Visit Tim's ex Blog and here are a couple of interviews, one from a while back mentioning a track called Maximums which features Tim's vocals, and a 2012 interview with Tim and Wally.
LUCAS TARANTO Bassist. Played on some Gotye album tracks and with Wally in the High School Band "Downstares". Follow him on Twitter!
THE 5-PIECE BAND Wally effectively has 2 bands. In Australia, Gotye performs as a 10-piece band, but when touring overseas, Wally condenses his live act to a 5-piece. Each one a talented musician in his own right. Here are the other 4 of the "Gotye 5-piece" listeners have grown quite attached to....
BEN EDGAR
Plays guitars, slide guitar, mandolin and banjo. Ben has also performed alongside artists including Missy Higgins. Began playing guitar at the age of 13, and studied Jazz at the VCA.

THE 10-PIECE BAND So, in Australia, Gotye live becomes a 10-piece band, complete with extra percussion, guitar, keys, horns, reed instruments & vocals. They won a 2012 ARIA for Best Australian Live Act as voted for by the public.
From L to R: James Saunders (who you may recognize from the group, Colour Bomb) samples, keys, vocals; Gideon Brazil reeds, vocals; Tim & Michael, Ben Gillespie trombone, vocals; Ed Fairlie trumpet, vocals; Wally and special guest Barry Morgan; Josh Barber percussion; Lucas and Ben.
