Hi there, Gotye lovers!
Well, I’m Shayla, I’m from the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. Born in 1998 I’m 14 years young it is! ;) Of course, being at the age of 14 I’m still in school, and enjoying it....well every now and then. I have a loving family that I am lucky to have and great friends, of course! Well that’s enough about me. I’m here to tell you my passion for music!
Well, I enjoy all different music. Not the music you would expect from a teenager. I guess I should have been an 80’s child as I’m told that quite a lot. I’ve grown up with my parents’ music I guess, and I actually like it. Now most kids tend not to like their parents’ music, but then there's me. I enjoy listening to Pink Floyd, Crowded House, The Eagles, U2, The Police, AC/DC, Coldplay and I guess you can see the style I’m interested in. Most people I know haven’t heard of these bands and they are more into the young hip bands. I guess that’s what they are called? I’m not so much into it.
I never was a big fan of music when I was younger, just always hearing my dad listen to Elton John and Cat Stevens. Mum always listening to U2. I guess I sorta did hear young music as my sisters used to listen to Britney Spears, Spice Girls, etc. I guess all I was interested in at that time was The Wiggles and High 5! But I can tell you now my music taste has changed a lot!
Instead of making you bored, here comes the good stuff! I first found out about Gotye music back in 2007. I was watching the ARIA awards and watched him perform ‘Learnalilgivinanlovin’. I really liked the song. One problem though I was only 8 years old and it was a bit of a tongue twister to say ‘Learnalilgivinanlovin’ and it was difficult to pronounce ‘Gotye’ as well.
It wasn’t till last year I finally found my passion for music. Of course, I stumbled across this fantastic musician again by the name of Wally. By this time it had been 4 years since I heard about Gotye. So I kind of forgot. When his hit single came out, I really enjoyed it. I bought all his albums. As I was listening to Like Drawing Blood, I soon found out where I had heard his voice before!
November came around and I found his app at the app store; of course, I downloaded it. I later met a gorgeous girl Kaneesha! We are now best friends thanks to the great guy Wally De Backer, that is!
