Greetings! Hi, I'm Emma. I was born in a town called Wisbech, UK,

in November 1975, which makes me no more than 23 years old

(cough, cough). Moving swiftly on, I married Darren in 1998, and we

have 3 beautiful children. I am a bit of a Tomboy at heart, and I love

football (soccer version), Formula 1 and of course, music!

I will listen to anything once and I tend to like stuff off the
beaten

track. During my years as a youngling the charts were dominated by

Bros, New Kids on the Block and my starting-to-be-a-grown-up years

began with Oasis. I had and still have no desire to add any works by

the aforementioned artists into my music collection, though I refuse

to delete the NKOTB cover by The Basics, as far as I'm aware that is

the only exception to the rule!

During my school/college/working life, I scoured radio stations

listening for new music, used to love listening to BBC Radio 1 late at

night or early in the mornings to find that little gem that hadn't quite

hit mainstream (Remember my age? - this is in the olden days before

that what do you call it, internet thingy was readily available, radio

was all we had back then, and the music channels if your parents

could afford satellite TV, which unfortunately mine could not!). My

parents' taste in music had influenced my musical preferences: Queen,

The Beatles, The Kinks, Abba, Motown can all be found on my ipod, as

well as a vast array of 80's & 90's music!

In 2006 I became a Mummy, left my job and became housewife and full time mum (not to be confused with "Domestic Goddess" or "Yummy Mummy"). My musical interests had taken a back seat. That was until my wonderful hubby came home from work one day and changed my life forever....woah, sounds intriguing?

Back in January 2012 he told me about a song he had heard on the radio at work. My husband has no real interest in music, so for him to be mentioning music is quite a rare event. He knew that I would love it but of course he had no recollection of who sang it, what it was called or how it went. Great! That helped, but a couple of days later he came home with the track name.

Straight onto YouTube I went, and I was mesmerized! I don't think I really absorbed the song at first, just this bloke who was staring back at me. So, there it was, suddenly I had this new addiction and spent every spare second of the next 3 or 4 days scouring the internet, watching interviews & live performances, I was caught, hook, line & sinker!

Within a matter of weeks, I was standing in the front row, at the HMV Ritz in Manchester with my baby sister at my side, singing, grinning and falling in love with this genius banging away on his drums in front of me. I crave every little snippet of information I can find and there is so much to see and hear!

And just as an added bonus, I have been blessed with some very special friendships. I've never really been one to tweet or sit on Facebook babbling random crap (as I do!) very often, but now you will catch me, glued to my laptop or constantly checking my phone for notifications! Yes, I'm talking about my fabulous fellow Gotyettes, a handful of lovely people who completely understand my love of all things Gotye (or to the outside world, more freaks who think this bloke from Oz really gives a damn what they think!)

Never mind, it's the outside world's loss. So my friends, I don't want to leave you "out here in the cold", step inside our world of freakiness, pull up a pew, put your feet up and relax. You are quite safe here, babble away about all things Wally to your heart’s content....
